Refreshing Water

Like many forms of life, we depend on clean freshwater. In nature, water is made fresh and clean as it evaporates from oceans, lakes, and streams; forms clouds in the sky; falls as rain and snow; and is filtered by plants while it moves through wetlands. One of the marvels of plants is that they clean the air and the water. Our body uses water to transport oxygen and nutrients and balance our minerals, such as phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, sodium, chloride, magnesium. Water has a fundamental role in regulating our temperature and blood pressure; repairing and cushioning the joints; facilitating digestion, forming stool, and removing waste from the body.

We need to consume about ½ of our body weight in ounces of water every day to stay hydrated and support the water-related functions of the body. Drinking water from glass or stainless-steel containers is ideal. The best time to drink it is away from meals. Drinking water upon waking in the morning is especially cleansing after the body has been repairing itself during sleep. Aside from sipping a little water during meals to ease the food going down, it is generally best to avoid drinking water ½ an hour before, during, and one hour after eating so as not to dilute the digestive juices (Eckelkamp, 2016). You can reduce or eliminate disrupting your sleep with trips to the bathroom during the night when you finish drinking water and other beverages a couple of hours or more before going to bed (Pacheco, 2022). On the other hand, a small cup of calming herbal tea, such as chamomile, before going to bed may make it easier to fall asleep. Taking a warm bath with Epson or ancient sea salt can be soothing and relax tight and aching muscles.

Water, air, sunlight, and the earth's natural radiation create negative ions that are beneficial to our health. The highest concentrations of negative ions occur in mountains, forests, waterfalls, and beaches along oceans. Negative ions are oxygen molecules that have an extra negatively charged electron. They clean the air by attaching to positively charged electrons in bacteria, viruses, dust, pollen, mold spores, and pollutants floating in the air, causing them to clump together and drop to the ground. Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to our brain, revitalizing cell metabolism and giving us more mental energy (Kuar, 2019).
